Dear owners of KP 44/46 or
Formosa 46,
My name is Tom. I am a Swiss sailor, 57 years old and a big fan of KP 44/46 or
Formosa 46 sail yachts.
Since the age of 17 sailing is my big passion.
I did a few ocean crossings in my life, always with small boats. 2007 I had the chance to sail a Formosa 46 from
Fiji to
New Zealand.
It was a great trip! In springtime 2017, together with my wife Anisia, I left Southern
France on a beautiful
classic 32 foot
steel sailboat. Since 2019 we are in
French Polynesia.
After almost 5 years of traveling with this
small boat we dream of a bigger one because we would love to share our life stile and our passion with
family and friends. In the same time it would be nice to have a bit more comfort. We are sailing without
roller furling, without fridge and the
headroom is to small for me.
After studiing the market my wife and me are sure that there is only one
boat out there that is corresponding to our criterias: it's the KP 44/46 or a Formosa 46. This kind of
boat is what we are dreaming of. We will sell our little
sloop beginning of next year here in
French Polynesia. Until autumn 22 we will go back to Switzerland a
work hard to get the
money for our future dream yacht.
We hope to find a KP 44/46 or a Formosa 46 between 60 and 70 thousand USD. We can imagine that with a similar selling
price there is some
work to do.
We heard about a few typical KP/Formosa problems like: chainplates,
rigging parts etc.
We would like to know more about the possible cost for these kind of refits and for the annual
maintenance as well.
And if ever you think of selling your boat end of 2022 please let us know, you could help us to make our dream come true.
By the way our plan is to go on sailing around the globe with this future boat and it will be the floating home for my
retirement.
We are looking forward to get your feedback!
Kind regards from Tahaa in French Polynesia,
Tom and Anisia
