Sugar scoop transom and rear hung dinghy?

So, i'm still in the "planning" stages and curious how these two things would work (or not work) together.

I'm guessing the best place to hang a dinghy would be at the aft. (I'm figuring I do NOT want to deal with removing and replacing a motor just to use the dinghy)

But that would get in the way of using a sugar scoop or swim platform when the dinghy is up. (IE, fishing on passages, which is a big reason I want to go cruising.)

#1 Am I right in my thinking?
#2 Is there some simple solution to this that I don't know about yet?

Thanks!

Re: Sugar scoop transom and rear hung dinghy?

Its pretty simple; the davits need to stick out far enough that they do not interfere with the sugar scoop and high enough to be out of the way. I find that I can still use the swim platform for diving and not bang my head on the dinghy. For ocean crossings I plan to have the dinghy upside down on the foredeck, with the engine hanging off the back. The davits should provide a nice lifting point for the outboard. However 80-90% of the time the dinghy and engine will be hanging off the davits. Thats a 3.1m alum RIB weighing 60kg with a 15hp weighing 45kg. For fishing you could probably mount a reel without a rod on the pushpit under the dinghy. Few pictures below. Hope this helps.
