Starting Our Search

We have been lurking for a while now and are heading to Florida to meet with some brokers as well as visit marinas. So far I have been underwhelmed with the brokers I've randomly interacted with . Okay folks, we will be in the Tampa area for the National Championship Game and want to know if anybody has a broker they can recommend in that area as well as in the Fort Pierce area. Our budget is in the 150k range and our preferences so far are for the 37 to 42 foot Island Packets, Catalinas and Beneteau vessels. The goal is to find a ready coastal cruiser that would not be reckless going bluer water. Sage advice is always warmly received. Thank you.

Re: Starting Our Search

I just bought a sailboat, a 43ft aluminum monohull sailboat and I would recommend getting an out of water survey put in the contract. I didn't know that. I wound up paying $1000 more for the insurance because of the that. The broker didn't have a clue. BOATUS will be cheaper than the insurance company I got.

Re: Starting Our Search

Scuba,

Yes I am familiar with them as a brokerage and have talked with one of his brokers but was underwhelmed with a particular individual. Any insights into a particular broker?

Thx.
