Re: Single-handed sailor Guido

I like your video's mate.

Can I ask though, I notice you don't use tethers or pdf's? Is it worth not using them when your solo'ing? We had a solo sailor go missing here last year. His boat was auctioned just before Christmas.

Re: Single-handed sailor Guido

Hello and welcome aboard the forum Guido!

I watched and liked the first video. Subscribed too.

I look forward to more contributions and participation from you on the forum in the future.

I am curious about one aspect of the video. What was used to show the animated map showing the "moving line" of th journey over the course you took? What software makes that? Is it easy to make those animations, for newbie video editor?

Great job Guido! Nice production values and excellent English. Is it safe to assume you are using a GoPro camera?

Hope you are adjusting to life back on shore and planning your next adventure that we can all follow along on.

FYI I represent a German company located in Russelsheim. Your English is just fine and I've not heard any Germlish in any of your videos. I have to edit so much of what comes to me written for the US from them. Keep up the great work.

@PuttingDoctor
Thanks for your message. Correct, i used a gopro hero 2 and another Panasonic HX-WA30 for filming. Rüsselsheim .. thats actually not fare away from my place .. must be OPEL, isnt it !?

@SteadyHand
The tool for creating a "moving track" is free and its name ist "Route Generator" (Welcome to the Route Generator page). You an set different route-points on a map and the software will create an AVI-File out of that. Hope this helps you.

Re: Single-handed sailor Guido

I noticed that you have a vertical windgenerator on your mast.

How much Ah did that produce during your trip?

Thx.

Thanks for the link to the route generator!

While I have not watched the other videos (aside from #1) I will.

I do not know if this has been covered in your videos or not (or on a blog), but I think it would be interesting to many if you started a thread that outlined what you experienced and what you learned or what might have changed for you, based on the experience of the long voyage. Perhaps you could describe how your expectations were either met or not met too.

@SteadyHand
Good idea .. i will keep that in mind for later. Lets check out the documentary itself before ...

@chemist
To be honest .. that generator sucks. It was recommended by the shipyard, but never delivered any of the promised power. After crossing the bay of biscay i put another (real) generator on the boat. That will be part of Episode 2.

Re: Single-handed sailor Guido

Guido, we have a gopro type camera, but thinking about getting something like your Panasonic as well. Is yours the waterproof version? Do you find it better quality, easy for zooming in and out, better sound quality? Or not a lot of difference.
Cheers
