Well prepared could be a nice experience to sail over.

I used Dockwise Express. I prepared the boat for 10 day crossing, removing sails, canvas and running messengers for halyards. But I saw boats loaded with sails on, anchor on bow and ensign furled! My Boat arrived in tiptop shape. Paid $12K in 2004 and took advantage of discounts for early booking/payment. I had a great experience and would use Dockwise again. Btw, you can inquire about crossing with your boat. It is allowed on large yachts, but may be possible on others. If you wish, you can call for “last minute” loading, on space available basis. Rates are negotiable, if you are flexible. My guess is shipping is slow now, due to Covid.
We eventually spent 9 years in the Med and sailed T/A to Caribbean in 2013/14.
Wonderful memories and a trip if a lifetime! DO IT!
Dockwise is one of the best. I used to sail for the mother company Spliethoff in the 1980's as an engineer .

Re: Shipping a boat to the Med

Thank for the response. Italy seemed a good place to start and was where I had received the quote for. I'm open to other areas of the Med. When shipped your boat did it go as deck cargo?

Of course as a delivery guy, I am “the other choice”.
What would be involved in having it delivered. What would be the prep necessary, the time frame and cost be?

Lucid,

My normal pre-engagement conversations run 20-30 min. To summarize, PREP- we would need to go through a process to ensure the vessel is up for the journey. But since it will be in the Med for a while, it would be smart to get her right stateside first. TIME FRAME—SWAG 30-45 days, most likely less.

Cost will depend on what crew is needed.

Please I will PM my phone number, please call. Also please check my website to read more about my experience and to read feedback from customers.
