Share Your Interior <27 Feet

I currently have my boat gutted and am doing cardboard mock-ups for the interior.

This thread is pretty cool but I am looking for some "specific" help form the forum.

Please post pictures of your "smaller" boat's interiors. The good the bad and the ugly. With a blank slate I have been doing a lot of web surfing to get good space saving ideas.

I'd love to know what you like and what you don't like as well.

To get the ball rolling here is my interior before and current. The interior is not necessarily mine but shows the standard Maxi layout.

BTW - I am posting this in the monohull forum because I am not really looking for "in process" refit photos but rather small boat interior ideas.

Wow! Beautiful and inspiring - many thanks!

With limited woodworking tools I have been worried about making "square corners" everywhere and having it look kludgy - You blended it all together well.

The blue is what it was which looked fine but nothing compared to the white! I also changed the rubrail insert to grey and the stripes to black. It went from being a nice sailboat to WOW for not a whole lot of effort and about $1,500.

To me the companionway, companionway bulkheads, engine cover and the quarter berth offer a lot of opportunity for creativity in a small boat. My original galley was stuck in the port rear corner. The engine box protruded 12 inches or so forward of the companionway. There was a "large" storage area under the sink but it was very hard to access because it was stuck in that corner.

Atom and others have moved the galley sink to the back wall as opposed to the side - This seems logical and a nice idea.

I may be trying to do too much but I am planning a galley on port where the counter wraps from over the engine box, around the port rear side, next item will be the ref/cooler, then the a/c then the head, moved from centerline under the v-berth to the port side.

This will "fill up" the port side and pretty much eliminate the port berth and setee. I'm OK with that, there will be seating on starboard.

I am also planning to create a pull out "dolly" on rails that goes in the stbd quarterberth. There is a lot of storage there but it is hard to access. If I make a pull out sled, I can open the door and roll the "bin" out along the stbd seat.

Above this and "wrapping" around the stbd rear will be the nav station and electical panles although the switch panel just below the companionway as Atom has done it is also intriguing.

Electrical distribution will be on the inboard wall of the quarterberth, as the batteries are just on the other side of that bulkhead. This makes very short wire runs and gets all the fuses and equipment out of the engine bay.

The other choice for galley top (for me) is either the galley top "flush" with the companionway entrance - this means the box above the engine his a lot of headroom - this could be used to create a storage box under the countertop and above the engine as Atom has done but for me won't be as extensive because I still have the engine underneath.

I plan to move the seat back towards the centerline and create storage behind the seats. The downside of this is I lose berth width on the stbd berth. This is where Atoms roll out berth may help. I don't expect more than 2 aboard and can give up the 3rd but I'd like a 3rd berth for in case I get a 3rd on board.

Hopefully I will get some mock up pictures done today and maybe some schematics. My art skills are less than optimum...

Perhaps take a cue from the Tardis - they seem to have done a tremendous amount in such a small craft.
