self steering gear

For years we've sailed around with an old Robertson self steering system which has driven us nuts. We're currently up for a major re-fit and want to put a new system on. The problem is...we're 38 ton... and the "little systems" won't do. I doubt whether a wind vane would either...anyway, we have plenty of power...so has anyone had similar issues with a large heavy motor sailor, and could give us ideas on what they fitted to solve the problem ? Would a part new system "talk" to the old one ?

Re: self steering gear

Check the latest issue of UK Practical Boat Owner magazine. You might need to fab it out of metal instead of wood but maybe not ...
