Seaward 46Rk wonder if the company has sold any of these boats
They seem to be a bit high priced and will they be around for years to come?

They have been around for many, many years already. The company, not that particular boat model.

I love the concept of all ther boats. I havent thought through if I like the interior of the 46or not... the 32 is an amazing design I think. The reputation of their earlier models seems very good.

Re: Seaward 46Rk wonder if the company has sold any of these boats
I have an early model where they used a shoal draft keel. I would compare the build quality to a Buick. I've been very happy with the boat....so much so I did a total refit about 8 years ago.
I love the concept and would like it in the 38-40 foot range.
Now the downside.....I've tried to talk with these folks over multiple years at the boatshow in Annapolis. Even brought pictures of the refit. Thought they might at least fake some interest. Blew me off when there wasn't even anyone around to sell a boat to. I won't state his name, but he was not a dealer. He was a senior guy from the factory/headquarters.

Re: Seaward 46Rk wonder if the company has sold any of these boats
Not a good sign when they don't talk to the people that have bought their product. Hmmmmmm
I think the 46RK might sell if the price was lower for what you get with it.
But that is their problem not mine, if they don't price their product where
people will buy them guess that model will be history
Glad you are having a good time with the model you have. Yes Im looking for something in the 45 to 50 ft and the 46RK would be nice but its not worth the $400,000 with not much included on it. If Im spending that much I will buy a used large CAT with tons of electronics dinghy etc loaded.

There is one in the yard down the road from our slip. Rumor is they hit some rocks and did a lot of damage. I haven't gone to look at it yet.

Re: Seaward 46Rk wonder if the company has sold any of these boats
I read the Cruising World review that said the mast is mated with the tabernacle that allows owners to raise and lower the mast without the use of a crane. This would be handy if one was going to actually trailer this boat somewhere.
Do you have a link to a video of this procedure?

Re: Seaward 46Rk wonder if the company has sold any of these boats
I have seen at least 6 different 46rk hulls in various pics and videos. Can't imagine they are building these boats on spec, so someone is buying them. FYI - the building & selling is now handled by Island Packet Yachts.
New or used these boats are in the same price range as a cat with equivalent interior space. This boat will float in 2' of water but can drop lead to 8'. With inside watch seat and dual engines it's an amazing boat imho.

So that rudder looks looks sketchy, is it?

Re: Seaward 46Rk wonder if the company has sold any of these boats
Rumor has it they are introducing a 42 or a 44.
I think the design is kinda cool but I worry about the rudders being exposed below and from behind. Are they on a skeg or do they kick up if hit? What happens when the boat backs into something? I suppose they would be easy to replace.
I don't like the interior. I would give up that captain's seat inside for more storage any day. Also do not like the position of the sink on the outside of the hull.
IMO they need a complete redesign of the interior. The fuel tank on the 32 is pitifully small.. 20 gallons.

Re: Seaward 46Rk wonder if the company has sold any of these boats
I like them. I have a dog and elderly parents who enjoy sailing, so the two step companionway really stands out. And I'm not trying to beach my boat but a 2.5 ft draft for the shallows and an 8ft draft for passages is self explanatory. They even had sleeping in the cockpit in mind.
I'm hoping the price list they're sending me has the right numbers on it.

It is an intrigueing design. Not for everyone I don't imagine.

That captain's chair on the inside is really, really stupid in my opinion... other than that, pretty cool design and idea
