Scandal At The Marina-Blue Dodger with Brown Bimini

Yes, my neighbors at the marina threatened to inform the office manager
when they saw the clashing colors! Ha Ha!

So, after finding a lightly used bimini frame and brown canvas that fits like
a glove on the back on my Pearson 30, I'm ready to change over to a blue top.

Just a thought--is there an adhesive that will successfully bond sunbrella to sunbrella? I have some blue material that could be used to cover the brown bimini and save some cash. Otherwise, the brown bimini cover will make a nice template for a new blue cover.

Thanks for your replies and perhaps some relief from the marina fashion police.

It’s a simple question, if you don’t understand let me know I’ll break it down for you.

It has nothing to do with your question but everything to do with your comment about your neighbours freaking about clashing colours.. sad lives or wot.
But thank you for the offer of enlightenment..

Every marina seems to have its own little microculture. I gather his values color coordination.

Re: Scandal At The Marina-Blue Dodger with Brown Bimini

If my marina neighbours tried that on me - the only thing I’d be looking for is pink polka- dots to go on the dodger. Complaining to management because you don’t like a boats colour-scheme? Are you kidding!?

Edit - I’ve got also got a well-rehearsed 2-word reply for just such an occasion if it ever was to arise.

OK. Just to clarify my posting--just a joke--I should have made that clear.

Anyway, I just bought something called E6000 (Home Depot) and the packaging says it can be applied to cloth and can be used in a washer and dryer.

Lousy colour coordination but blue with bergundy might work OK, give it a coat of acrylic paint.

Yea That's an option and when the acrylic starts to harden and flake off maybe it will fall on his decks like leaves. To do it right though you will have to put it on real heavy. He will then have something to cry about. I would suggest latex as it will crack and age so much better

What’s next, sailing with fenders dragging in the water?

Re: Scandal At The Marina-Blue Dodger with Brown Bimini

Thread is a good adhesive for joining fabric together : )

Using an old piece of canvas as a pattern for a new piece is rarely a good idea, especially one that's been under tension. Sunbrella shrinks to resistance and over time the stresses on the material can not be duplicated with new canvas. Yes it can be done, and there are those out there that do it for cheap, but it's really a crap shoot on the fit.

Always loved the "gypsy boat" look (fenders dragging in the water).

When one adds laundry hung out to dry all over the boat while sailing, fenders and more it truly is a sight to behold!
