Sanctuary Cove Boat Show Gold Coast Australia

We went to the boatshow on the Gold Coast yesterday and I'm glad we went. Lots to see and more stuff on the want it list.
I am a coach builder by trade and I notice how the quality of the cabin fit outs is pretty sad on new boats. I don't know if I get in trouble for saying this but the furniture starting to look like office furniture just put in place not made to fit the hulls or curves. I know there is a price war going on between the big boys but if I was in the market for a new boat I wouldn't buy any of them. My boat was build in 1989 and I love the timber work inside and all the storage space. I hope the industry will turn around one day and go back to making quality nice looking interiors.
Cheers

Re: Sanctuary Cove Boat Show Gold Coast Australia

We get some of the workers who build some of these things come into the shop and they say that THEY would not buy them. How sad/damning is that? Bling sells, not quality it seems.

Not an aussie so I might seem really dumb here but, by coach builder, do you mean coach as in horsedrawn?

not a dumb question at all. The old coach builders did actually build horse drawn coaches which got replaced by motor driven coaches or buses. the trade name is used for tradesman who grew up in the RV world building motorhomes and all sort of RV vehicles. Some are more specialised on the outside or body building part where others work more on the inside and build the furniture and wall linings. The inner fit out of a good quality motorhome is not unlike the inside of a boat.
