Anyone have a suggestion?
There are many great, durable Ferro ocean cruisers. On the pier back in Nelson before we left NZ there were 4 out of about 20 which were ferro and all had done well offshore in rugged conditions. Just make sure the engine, plumbing, electrical and other installations are to professional standards.

Just get 3rd party cover. Too much hassle to insure older ferro, steel or timber boats. Don't worry about the off-shore thing either - if it goes down off-shore the boat would be the least of your worries. Learn to read weathermaps instead.(And know your plumbing systems )
Edward William seem OK for 3rd party. They wouldn't survive if they didn't perform for marina and government claims.

Re: Samson C-Shell 36

My C-Mist 32 has been insured with State Farm since I bought it in 1985. I'm in California.
