Hello Friends. I am new to the forum - certainly not new to sailing. I have a handshake agreement to
purchase a
Cheoy Lee 33
Offshore Ketch. I am a former
boatbuilder and owned a
boat restoration company and can tell you this vessel is in top condition having undergone a 3 yr professional
refit. It was a seaoned gentleman sailors' dream and he spared no expense in bringing her to A1 condition.
My concern and question is her performance. I have read many discussions about build quality,
teak decks, design, etc....but what I am eager to know is: what are her sailing characteristics? Does anyone have firsthand knowledge to offer? How does she sail to
weather or on a reach? Light, medium, and heavy air performance?
I will be keeping her in my slip in my backyard, a 1/4 mile to the
Gulf of Mexico in St Petersburg. I appreciate your comments and look forward to meeting friends here on CF.
