skipper and crew already set up by now. It is a long trip. Getting across the Bay of Biscay is a bit similar to crossing the
Gulf Stream, only worse. Nasty
weather can suddenly crop up and trap you in a bad lee shore situation any time of the year. If there is a set departure date, is there a set arrival date too? This might make waiting for a
weather window problematic. Who's paying for the ship's stores? Sometimes crew are asked to chip in, sometimes crew are paid. Which kind of trip is this one? Is the plan to go straight from St Malo out past Finisterre and
Gibraltar without stopping, or is the plan to hop along the coast in good weather? In a 33'
boat? How well maintained is it? Is the
liferaft recently serviced? Does the
radio work? Is it an
AIS unit? There's a lot of
shipping along this
route. Is there an
