Hi Patagonia... Welcome to CF..
For a start.. if you don't know about it already log into www.noonsite.com and run down the countries you'll be passing and each one contains local reports by cruisers on all topics.. and the visa's etc you'll need along the way..
There will be a few on here who'll likely be a great help as well...

If you look up the Ocean Passages, you will find the route and the timing there.

IMHO to SOUTH Chile you may be sailing via Hawaii.
