Wow, that is cool for sure. I could spend a bunch of time in the B'mas in that! Looks like the "galley" slides into the 1/4 berth space too.

That is an unusual feature.

I really like the styling on this one. Very handsomely finished and the canvas and paint job look nice. "Classy" looking for a trailer sailor.

Notice the canoe stern. It is a distinctive small draft boat. I can imagine taking this and enjoying it in many places, but looks ideal for those skinny water areas.

There are a couple similar Ted Brewer designs in little pocket cruisers, but they are more like 21-23 etc. Maybe Rob Roy 23 IIRC.

The SeaPearl 28 combines portability with 19 inch draft, an unstayed cat-ketch rig, water ballast and outboard power to make a unique product. In fact, the boat was designed around a charter service already using the Sea Pearl 21 as their base boat.

The cat-ketch rig works well on this craft. The short masts are tabernacle-stepped for ease in raising and lowering the rig and they offer hands-off tacking. The SA/D ratio is a surprising 19.2 and I assume that is without the water ballast. With full battens and lazy-jacks, you can get underway quickly and drop the sails with some degree of dignity by just releasing the halyard.

In an area where you can spend most of the time outdoors this would be an attractive small cruising boat. It if seems that this approach fits your style, why not charter one and give it a try?"

I like my little NIS 23 designed by Bruce Kirby. It is a pleasure to sail, and the cat ketch rig is easy and versitile.

It maneuvers very well under just the mizzen, which is small enough to be backed easily by hand, so all sorts of reversing tricks are possible.

Steady, Thank u. Btw, does that mean the standing headroom is only 61 inches over all... or only where the forward v berth is ? That would be a deal killer there wouldn't it?

Many trailer boats have less than 6 feet headroom.
They are not intended as liveaboard boats.
They are usually day sailors or for short term cruising.

I could accept 61 inches headroom if using this boat, as it is designed to be used, as most of my time would be in the cockpit sailing or lipounging under a Bimini, or snorkeling, or walking beaches or exploring the islands. Inside is for sleeping, cooking, and foul weather. During those times, much of it can be done while sitting or reclined.

I would be happy with this boat in the Keys or Bahamas or Florida coastal cruising.

Here's something else to consider about free standing masts. They may be the future of sailing. Wingsails (like you see in the America's Cup) are not really compatible with standard rigging. Beneteau experimented with a wingsail design a couple years ago, and converted a Sense 43 boat to strengthen a mast enough to remove the rigging.
