Sailboat under 40 feet with large tankage
I am not in the market right now, but asking anyway.
Is there any production sailboat in the region of 30' that comes with larger tankage, ie:
more than 100 gallons of water, 50 gallons of fuel?
I can think of Hans Christian 33 at the moment.

Island Packet 35s have 100/50 gallons of tankage per your comment.
Check Mahina Expeditions for ideas.

Our Baba 35 has 68 gallons of diesel and 200ish of water in 3 tanks. Granted the tanks aren’t entirely original. I suspect that the original tankage was similar enough. HC33 is a wonderful boat and would be a great choice for a great many people IMO.
So far we are happy with our baba. So far we haven’t had too much time with it, but it’s low primary stability makes it really feel like your sailing even when there isn’t enough wind to move.

I imagine some older boats would, before watermakers came along. Carrying 100 gallons of water on a 30' boat just sounds ridiculous to me. You can carry 30 gallons + watermaker with a significant reduction of weight.
My 36 footer has 70 gallons and it seems to last forever.

Re: Sailboat under 40 feet with large tankage
We have 95 Gallons of water, but only 20 Gallons of diesel. At .5 GPH that's ~40 hours or motoring at ~5.7 knots. Not bad!

Really not bad. My rule of thumb is enough fuel for 48 hours at full throttle (if needed as part of storm tactics). If not it’s back to your mission.
Water 1 gal / day / person rationing. Considerably more when not.
I would size the tanks for an “average mission” so to speak and the get ahold of some collapsible jerry cans for when you know you’re doing a trip out of the norm. Such as with a trip up the inside passage to Alaska. 700 miles of motoring, more or less. Not doing that with my internal tanks. In that event I would likely need 2 barrels stored on deck for some refills under way.
I guess my only point is, that I would never really want to size tanks for all occasions. It’d eat up too much storage. I’d rather store fuel on deck on occasion than have to store my clothes on deck.
If the tanks are in otherwise unused spaces that’s another thing.... but you can only squeeze so much room out of your bilges.

I thought I was on my own until you posted this. I guess if you wanted to do a one off ocean crossing, but certainly wouldn't want to carry that weight around on a 30ft yacht regularly.

Re: Sailboat under 40 feet with large tankage
Our Shannon 28 carries 65 gal water/20 gal fuel. More than enough for a single handed ocean crossing.

Re: Sailboat under 40 feet with large tankage
My 35.5 carries about 127 gallons in two fresh water tanks, bow tank and flexible 40 gal under starboard settee. 30 gal of diesel (stern port side), burning 0.5 gal/hr at 2000 rpm...
So about 720 lbs in the bow when full and 250 in starboard tank. 210 lbs of diesel can help balance the port side tank. Fits into the definition of "displacement" boat
And hey, when topped off, probably adds acouple inches to my waterline...
