This yacht was reported damaged and possibly
lost in the Cyclone YAZI in Cardwell,
Queensland Australia in 2011 in the older ALOHA Forum and in this forum.
I am delighted to advise these
forums that Amalthea, then named S.V. Le Boudin was not
lost but was damaged. Thankfully, not badly, being mostly
hull finish and shredded
fiberglass. In the past few years she has been completely and expertly re-glassed and refitted throughout in a professional boat-builder shop in Townsville,
Queensland.
Amalthea is back in the waters of North Queensland and has been prepared for cruising the Barrier Reef in 2018. May I call on the US sailors who read this to advise the Browns (original owners) and the Fords who brought her to
Australia that their beloved
boat is still alive, perfect in everyway and sailing again.
I would like to make contact with the remnants of the Aloha Community with a view of starting that old forum back up. Please use this forum to contact me. Needless to say ... I am delighted as the owner of the Ex - Amalthea to post this
advice. She will be renamed in a few weeks time.
Mike V, Owner/Skipper ALOHA 34 #189.
