rudder stop

I have a Beneteau 393 and the rudder stop to starboard is only about 30 degrees whereas to port is about 60 degrees. this makes it impossible to heave to. how do you adjust this so that the locks are more or less equal? the block at the top of the rudder post seems to be fixed.

It sounds like something has slipped or was assembled incorrectly. Normally rudder stops are around 45 degrees each way from center. The difference 30 to 60 degrees is much to far for normal adjustment.

That was my thought. Like the key has left and clamp pressure is holding on. Not sure how the key could drop out but maybe botched install. Strange

Have you crawled under there and looked at the posts? I did this and found a small block of wood on one post, kinda looks like it has been taped on. I need to investigate further but I'm thinking that this post was mounted too low and it would "slip"on full port over. Not sure why else one side would have this attached and the other does not. If nothing is blocking it, then sorry, I've got no other idea for ya except this one personal example.
