Re: Red 'CHARGE' light stays on after starting

Looking at that battery compartment and all of the faults with just that, I would like to warn everyone not to set foot on the boat, until a survey is performed and issues corrected.

If I boarded a boat for a day sail and saw that, I would respectfully decline.

If I boarded a boat like that to trouble shoot a charge light on, ,I would advise the owner we would need to disconnect shore power, remove all flammables, and rewire those batteries, before we ever considered troubleshooting an alternator charge fault.

Sorry,, but those batteries store a lot of energy (when charged) that can hurt you (or those around you) if unleashed.

It never ceases to scare the crap out of me that the vessel in the slip next to mine , could be that ready to catch fire.

When was your last survey, as required for insurance, as required by your marina?

Nice rant. Too bad you didn't add anything useful to the conversation.

Well, I guess if it saves the lives of a number of boaters who looked at that photo and didn’t see anything wrong, who may now realize they don’t really understand marine electrical standards at all, it was well worth the rant.

Sorry if you were offended by my direct comments but I would prefer that, than investigating another boat fire due to an owner shirking their responsibility to make and keep their boat safe, for themselves, their passengers, and the rest of the boating community.
