No roving yet but i did buy a roll of 24 ounce and plan to add some into the mix. Of course alternating layers with mat.

24 oz is way to heavy ... it will be hard to saturate. 17 oz is plenty. Easy to work with. Use alternating 17 oz and 2 oz matt ... very strong ... make sure to roll out all the bubbles and excess resin.

If you decide to take this on I highly recommend you shop at US Composites. Fiberglass , Epoxy , Composites, Carbon Fiber - U.S. Composites, Inc. I no longer use any resin other than their 635 THIN Epoxy. Slow cure, no blush, soap & water clean-up (before reaction starts), great wet-out. Way less costly than any other epoxy I've found. Non-hazardous shipping. I usually buy in the 3-gallon sets. Get their pumps to insure correct ratio.

I use 7 mill polyethylene film as the release layer. You might think about getting it all set and vacuum bagging.

You will also find other fillers, cloth (glass & carbon fiber etc) 3M microballoons, mold release, silicone rubber. They have really good how-to videos.

Our bow was also crunched although nowhere nearly as severe. The inside was formed and then the outside was built up & faired.

Go old school ... polyester resin, PVA mold release (just spray it on)
Learn to do it right and you'll never be sorry and NEVER have to worry about it de-laminating.
Buy your resin in 5 gallon buckets. North American Composites, general purpose laminating resin.

There are other suppliers a bit closer to you but these guys are worth the drive.

Note: the water clean-up only works before the resin BEGINS to cure. This gives you a couple of hours where you can clean your hands with direct, undiluted liquid soap followed by water. This is not an EPA special water-based trick resin. It merely behaves like oil before it kicks. This resin is sold in large quantities for direct pump-in infusion in large epoxy structures. I find it easier to work and handle and it makes superb lay-up. Trudge on down to We$t Marine if you love throwing away boat bucks. Remember, you need to scrub the heck out of most of the other resins between layers to remove the amine blush.

No not this one. Solid glass. Although seems a little light on the resin which by the way is pigmented blue to help with print thru into the blue gelcoat. Hmm i wonder if that pigment weakens the resin? Im gonna say yes it does.
