I have been on a few Hunter
30s they seem like pretty decent boats. My family
had an 1981 36 foot Hunter as our first keel
boat from 1992-1998 (same designer
and build period). It served us very well. She was with us during those first few awkward years of sailing and was abused by us amateurs learning
the ropes. I think she took it pretty well. She survived a few major groundings and once being washed ashore in a tropical storm with just a few scratches, she was stolen and used to move drugs and then abandoned in the Gulf of Mexico
. She drifted around for a few days and then was picked up by a USCG boat.
We never had any issues or anything major/structural go wrong. But with any boat of that vintage, I would watch out for wet deck core
and bulkhead rot/damage. Are you going to have her surveyed? Good luck.
