Push throttle cable

Hello,

I intalled new throttle cable and shifter on Volvo Penta MD7a but after I realized that it's a push throttle type and adjusted the Teleflex shifter to "push" now the cable is 3" short to reach the accelerator!!!

Any ideas??

Is there a chance that you may have hooked it up wrong. I've worked around cable controls for years and they are very seldom if ever push cable controls. When it is a pull cable there is usually a spring to help pull the cable back. Sometimes there is two cables one to pull and the other to pull it back. I have run onto outboard controls where there is a heavy wire inside a jacket to push something . See if you can find an instruction for hooking it up. Mac

A coupling nut and an extension fixed the problem.
