Pros & Cons of In-Boom Furling

I am looking at purchasing a used 2014 sailboat that has an GMT Carbon Fiber in-boom furling main. I have a in-mast furling main now and I am not a big fan, but I have heard that a in-boom furling system is better. I really love this boat and the only real problem is the boom furling system.....just not sold. I greatly appreciate your thoughts as the outcome is critical to my decision.

Thanks.

I have in boom furling and love it. Makes single handing a breeze. Same as in mast for ease of reefing etc, but with alot less problems. Mark the lines for proper angle and sails zip right up or down.

Re: Pros & Cons of In-Boom Furling

We've had a boom furler for about a year now and are quite happy with it. Makes raising, lowering and reefing the main a snap. Ours is the Schaefer system with a fixed vang. Can't adjust the angle of the boom so rely on tension on the halyard and furling line to control the twist in the leech.
