Passport 470 vrs Hylas 46

I am trying to make a difficult decision between two similar center cockpit boats around the same age and over all condition. Both are 1997 ish. Does anyone have a preference and why?

Re: Passport 470 vrs Hylas 46

Hi! I just purchased a Hylas 46 '98 and for me it was a VERY easy decision. When I'm out crusing I swim at least twice a day and I love taking a shower at the stern. The Passport is poorly configured for this. None of the passports I looked at had dingy davits and I also had a hard time visualizing how I would get on/off the boat and store a dingy on the stern. While admitedly swiming may not be a high piority getting safely off/on the vessel in rough seas is very much a consideration.

Most of my cruising to date hhas been on a '48 center cockpit Tayana and it has a similar swim platform configuation to the hylas and I have always loved that !

BTW unfortunatly most of the '48 Tayana's are not ICW friendly which was a major decision critera (under '65 mast height).

Good luck shopping! I certainly had a good time!! The only down side had to do with dealing with some VERY shady brokers. I used a buyer broker (Jeff & Jean) info@twocansail.com and they were EXTREEMLY helpful!!
