Orberdorfer pump

I have a Universal 5411 Atomic diesel in my 1983 Catalina 27. There is an Orberdorfer fresh water pump on the engine. On the bottom of the pump is a small hole that drips. Not very fast but all the time the engine runs. I changed the gasket. Any ideas about why it leaks and/or how to fix it will be appreciated

Re: Orberdorfer pump

I'm not familiar with that exact pump, but it sounds like you are describing a drip hole that is put between the pump's seal and a bearing. The hole allows water that leaks past the seal to drip out before it damages the bearing. You need to replace the seal.

Re: Orberdorfer pump

My pump is an N202M. I believe you are right about a seal problem. I just have to get instructions.

Thanks

Frank
