Opinions on Rodgers 32

I have only lake sailed, never ocean. Learned on lakes, took lesson on lakes, have a good sailing club nearby. Not looking for my cruiser yet, but this came up for sale nearby and I wanted an opinion as to it's practicality for ocean cruising.

O.H. Rodgers 32

It might be more expensive to move to the gulf than it is worth. From what I can tell, was built as a race/cruiser. As a first boat to learn on, is this one worth the $10k if all the systems are in working order. I figure 3 years or so and I will be ready to lay down the big money for my home on water, but for something to take out for a week at a time while I determine what is important to me in a boat and what isn't, this might not be a bad starter. Thoughts?
