I'm looking at a Malo 106 and a 116 for my first sailboat to be used as full-time
liveaboard and cruiser. it's time to give up my day-job/career and
head out. I've done some sailing and learned some
singlehanding skills, but this will be the first sailboat I've owned. I can get into more specifics, but I've saved enough
money to live for ~10+ years based on monthly
budget reports found here and elsewhere. I'd like to spend ~$90k or less on the
boat and any refits and upgrades. I'm very mechanically and electrically inclined (have rebuilt engines, wired a house, etc.) so I plan on doing much of the
work that I can myself.
Can I get a sanity check, opinions on 1980s Malo 106 and 116 for
liveaboard and crusing? Are there any other
boat recommendations in this class that I might have missed in my searches that make good liveaboard cruisers?
