opinions on Island Traders???

Hi all,

I'm in the process of dreaming the dream "cruising".
In my searches I find the Island Trader 40 seems to fit the bill "price, aft center rack, lots of room, able to power through stuff, etc.". I'm aware it's a motor sailor and has more than normal amounts of topside maintenance.
As far as sailboats, do they sail well (for what they are)? Any other input would be appreciated, both good and bad!

I've been watching a 37'er that I've been thinking about making an offer on. They're slow, the teak decks leak, windows leak, tanks go bad, and they're hard to handle in tight places.

But I like the way they look and depending on the return I get on an investment I might just make an offer in 2 or 3 months.
