Offer Accepted!

Hi All

Well I have been away from the sailing for a lot shorter time than I thought. ( See my for sale thread). With a new baby on the way we had to sell up and abandon our plans of a 5 year cruise and move to the other side of Australia for work. We always wanted to keep the lifestyle so another bigger boat to handle a family was always on the cards but I didn't think it would happen so quick. I was just talking to a guy one day and he owned a boat that I had been admiring in the harbour for some weeks and wouldn't you know it he was thinking of selling! Offer was accepted today and we are back in the water :-)

She is an Alan M Pape ketch. 15.5m overall and 48ft on deck. She has a very small waterline at only about 10m and 25 tonne overall so will be interesting to see how she handles the bigger stuff but test sails all went well and a survey found absolutely nothing wrong except a few minor things like a small hole in the genset exhaust and the heat wrapping coming loose around the main engine muffler. She is Steel and launched in 2000, shortly after the original owner had a strocke and she never left the marina. She is like new still inside and the sails have only been raised a handful of times so I think I have got a winner here hopefully. Hope this is the right section for this. Very excited and looking forwarding to picking everyones brains about steel and I plan on doing some lightening of her as she is very much over built.

Pic was on a pretty crappy day but I love the older lines like this with the bowsprits etc.
Thanks for reading

Re: Offer Accepted!

Congratulations. Very pretty boat and steel. Makes one feel almost...... invincible.

Re: Offer Accepted!

a few pics inside as requested. Hard to do it justice with the iPhone. This wiring is how I like it. My last boat was a disaster.

Re: Offer Accepted!

I had an Alan Pape 38' cutter - lovely sea boat that sailed well and was beautiful living onboard. Sad to say ended up on an Indonesian reef. All his boats sailed well.

Re: Offer Accepted!

Howdy!

Very Nice! Even excelllent. The detailing on the wood and wiring and exterior paint shows someone cared about making a boat that would make one proud as a builder or owner and it appears well kept. I like the styling on the boat, including the paint scheme.

I can imagine your happiness!

Congrats!

Re: Offer Accepted!

Thanks for all the great comments. I really can't wait until I get her out in some bluer water and get the whole sail wardrobe up. Hopefully early in the New year!
