Oceanis 55 vs Hanse 575

Just returned fro the show in Annapolis and fell in love with both boats. Hanse has a little more room and the dingy garage but is 150 more. Hanse raves about how much better there boat is and is built, bid decision?

Re: Oceanis 55 vs Hanse 575

We had a similar proposition and opted to go with the Oceanis 48 over the Hanse 505. Both great boats, but the Oceanis interior is amazing for the size. For my nickel, be eyre offers more boat for the money. Also got the factory to put the self-taking rig on the Oceanis, which is one nice standard of the Hanse.

Re: Oceanis 55 vs Hanse 575

I saw both at Annapolis and I ended up with the Oceanis 55. I like the master berth much better, and overal, it felt better put together than the Hanse. Another contender was the Dufour 56, but again I felt the cockpit was better in the Beneteau. i would say the weakest part of the 55 was the salon. Now there are some changes for the 2015 model, but I think the Dufour 56 was much better in that regard.

I took delivery of a 2015 Oceanis 45 a month ago. I ordered the boat before the Annapolis show and even after seeing everything there I still didn't have buyers remorse. The Hanse looked to steril too me.

Yes, steril is a good word to define the Hanse. I am coming from a Sense 46, so I think Beneteau's style was somehow familiar, it felt more like home. One of the things I like a lot (I had the chance to seatrial the 55) is the location of the winches. So easy to adjust the sheets without disturbing the guests. I know a lot of people have problems with Beneteau in terms of style. They call it IKEA boat, but I find the style very clean and modern. I like that. In performance, I am a cruiser, so ultimate speed is not the most important aspect on a boat to me.

I can't wait to take delivery of this beauty.

I think you answered my question at the end. Did you buy the boat on display in Annapolis or order a brand new one? Who is your dealer?

Brand new one. Dealer is Great Hudson Sailing, for the NYC area.

Check out their video of the 55 in NYC.

Re: Oceanis 55 vs Hanse 575

It's interesting to read the preceding posts. All talk about comfor items, aesthetics etc. Not a single one mentions sailing ability, sailing responsiveness, handling or speed under sail. Having owned a 2006 Hanse 370e since new I can tell you that it is a great sailing boat. My wife and I cruise extensively and when we are nor cruising I race her, both around the buoys and distance races. In my last 7 distance races I have collected 5 flags including one 4th, two thirds, two second and two firsts in our division. We have placed as high as 10th against 185 other boats ranging from 27 to 84'. Additionally, after 9 seasons of extensive sailing, our Hanse has had no major problems and continues to look great. Choosing Hanse in 2005 was a longshot. But ended up being the right decision. Additionally, price my 2006 Hanse against a comparable 2006 Beneteau. The difference in resale price might say something.

Re: Oceanis 55 vs Hanse 575

I would prefer the Hanse... because it is leaner, more minimalist and quicker.

For my cruising, I chose a different type of yacht.

Another thought, a Beneteau 57... IMO, they are a better boat than the 55.. IMO (repeated) :-)

Re: Oceanis 55 vs Hanse 575

I would say the Oceanis has a nicer interior but probably the Hanse is a better ofshore boat. It all depends the use you will give to the boat. An Hanse 575 (Miss Malin) has done incredibly well on the 2013 ARC. I was impressed.

Hello Polux,

Dreaded thrift... I presume you live in FR? We should try to meet end July... unless you are on the West coast.

Send me a PM
