Novice

Hi I'm looking at buying an Allen Mummery Marimba 24 to learn on with my daughter. I have some experience on catamarans but not much on a mono, more motoring than sailing. The boat has an in board and pretty comprehensive sail wardrobe and has been well maintained, it really is the complete package as far as this size boat goes. The elderly owner has certainly done some miles on her. I'm just asking is this a good design and a forgiving boat as far as novice sailors go. I'm joining my local yacht club which has a great reputation but I'd just like to throw it out there and see what you all have to say.

!A KIWI ALAN MUMMERY MINI SUPER YACHT, MARIMBA 24 | Trade Me

Well I have never heard of her but she looks like a very nice little boat to learn on AND then do some coastal cruising. It reminds me of my old Columbia 24. Looks like almost 6 feet of headroom? Cored hull, you may want to check that for any soft spots. I like the rudder is skeg-hung. Air cooled diesel, haven't seen one of those yet. With nothing more than what I see in the listing, I'd say it looks to be a good boat to learn on.
