Hello

I have recently purchased a "classic plastic" Norlin 34 which was built in Sweden in 1973. I would like to hear from any other Norlin owners and try to source any schematic diagrams or hull design drawings. Any information would be most appreciated.

Your new boat was always one of my all time favorite boats.

I also own a 1973 Norlin 34. Great boat, quick and seakindly. It loves a breeze. I've done loads of work to it inc new rig, new plumbing, electrics, etc. I'd be happy to help you any way I can. Have a fair bit of info.

Thanks for your reply, your boat looks great. Any info you have would be most appreciated. I bought my boat, Salamander 3 days before I left to go offshore( I am a commercial diver) and I only arrived home yesterday, so I am really looking forward to getting out on the water. I used to own a Sadler 32, but from my research the Norlin has a serious racing pedigree, my own boat has competed in 3 Cape to Rio races and they are good sea boats as well. I came acroos a Norwegian couple circumnavigating their Nolin 34 S/Y Silene on the internet when I googled Norlin 34.

Anyway I have not had a chance to get to grips with the boat and her systems yet. Looks like they have a tall powerful rig. I will propably have a couple of questions for you about the hydraulic sail drive unit, if your boat has same drive? Anyway I will get in touch with you as soon as I have had a chance to get out sailing. It is summer here in Cape Town so it is just great to be home.

Anyway Pete have a really good Christmas and I wish you and your family all the good things in life for 2009

I find my self in a same situation and have been thinking of starting a Norlin 34 website, the major thing is to collect people with experience and so many owners as possible.
I have thoughts to order new rig also.
All intrested owners send me a email on llindh@netti.fi and I start to do somthing about it.

Hi Damien
Last year the sweedish book-publisher "Nautiske Förlaget" published a book named "Rena linier, ren segling" - Peter Norlin och hans båtar". ISBN 978-91-89564-48-0.
Translated to english (the book is in swedish) the title is something like "Pure lines, pure sailing - Peter Norlin and his boats".
The book contains in 256 pages the full story about Peter Norlin and alle his constructions, including the Norlin 34.
History of the Norlin 34 is in short form:
Prototype "Mosquito" launced i 1970. 33 foot. Sailed Round Gotland Race and Fastnet Race (no. 3 i class III). The lines in the stern were changed, and the boat made a foot longer. The result of this became the Norlin 34 mk. I. In 1975 the boat was prolonged with another foot and got a higher mast. This became Mk. II.
Total number build: about 120 boats.
Race results: 1973 SORC Florida no. 3 in class, total no. 4. Winner class III Fastnet Race (1972-73???). Winner Round Gotland 1972, 1976 (total), 1981, 1982, 2004.

Still got the boat, yes. Will have for a while, unless someone drops a 40-footer in my lap! This one does everything I want it to.
The pulpit is original, as far as I know.
