I'm doing a very slow but steady remodel of a previously abused/abandoned '57
ketch. Thinking about wooden handrails and possibly "rail caps". I'm in
Hawaii and honestly have not seen any actual wooden handrails (undoubtably due to
maintenance and material prices). Mine is a strange center console design (the only Newporter CC I have ever seen), and I thought the heavier rails (rather than stainless cable or pipe) might provide some contrast.
Can anyone point me towards a rail standard for size, thickness, and height? On my
boat all that was left of the handrails were the holes in the gunwales where the stanchions had been screwed in.
Also, a very new first time
boat owner. Thanks in advance.
