Newbees here respectfully requesting help re: Cyclades vs Oceanis

We are brand new to the cruising world but are looking to start taking small steps in order to go from our usual chartering in the BVI to getting on to more outlying islands windward as time allows as we are too young to be able to retire yet but far enough along for extended trips. We are looking at the possibility of picking up a deal with one of the Beneteaus that are coming off charter in the BVI at Moorings/Sunsail and any advice on any of this you can give us would be so much appreciated especially with regard to those two models themselves. Welcome to the forum! If you search, I suspect you will find various threads concerning used charter boats in general. For opinions on specific boats, you should really provide particulars on the models and years you are considering under a separate thread.

on what basis do you make the claim "herefore they do not hold a great reputation." Its a cost reduced Oceanis, mainly by trimming the interior

I am merely reflecting on reputation (not scientific proof!) and resale value of these boats in the Greek market...

That may have been more to do with the fact that they were in charter rather then the make. I had a chance to crawl over a cyclades once, A bit spartan for me, but the basic makeup was strong as befits a boat designed for charter.

Bendi's are okay... I've solo'd 2 across from the WI to the UK and was not worried at any time... apart from the Orca checkout...
Would recommend getting a surveyor from out island though (its the 'don't crap on your own doorstep' syndrome)... and be there for the survey so's you can see for yourself and put forward any pertinant questions and set the throughness...
