New vhf antennae

Does anyone have any experience on using a Shakespeare 5242 a 3DB whip antenna for the top of my Mast . and is there a difference between the 5242 and the 5241?

Re: New vhf antennae

One comes with 15 ft of cheap coax, the other comes with no coax

Re: New vhf antennae

The only real difference is the method of mounting - electrically they are identical.

The 5241 is intended to mount on a 1" x 14 mount like this: https://www.westmarine.com/west-mari...n-1986645.html

while the 5242 uses a metal bracket that screws to the side of your mast/cabin.

For masthead use, the 5242 is often more convenient and somewhat lighter weight.
