I have a Najad 371 bult in 1986.
The
boat have changed
engine to a
Volvo D 55 - 53HK, and that is more than enough. It have run for 500 hours now.
I am very happy with the boat. It have been tre times over the sea from the
west coast of
Norway to Faroe islands, and form the Oslo fjord to
Scotland, several times ower the North sea. No problems!
The only thing I miss is grabrails from the
cockpit, below the windows, to the mid
deck. But meny people mount seach grab rails them self.
Main
halyard, reefing lines, and winches for these, are all on the
mast. But allso here, many people extend them back to the
cockpit. And ad two more winches on the sides of the cockpit. There is plenty of room for that.
As a long keeled boat it can be a litle tricky reversing. My boat have a bow truster - that makes that a peace of cake.
The
keel have a approx two inch of fiber/epoxy incapsulation. And the
keel and the
hull is one piece. I do not know if it is posible to brake the keel at all. Even if you manage to make a hole in the keel the
water will not come in to the boat.
The
hull speed is 8 knots. I have once sailed the boat in 9,5 knots, dipping the cap rail. Remember to close the drains from the sinks if you do that :-).
I bought the boat used 3 years ago for 980000 Norwegian kroner, with a nearly new
engine (run 200 hours), a 4 year old
teak teck, 3 year old
mainsail.
I am very happy with the boat.
