New frigoboat thermostat
Hello, all. I have a Frigoboat Capri 50 refrigerator. The mechanical thermostat went bad and I ordered a new mechanical thermostat. This one looks almost the same but is labeled as the Frigomatic thermostat. Will it work on the Capri 50?
Thank you in advance,
Ben

Yes.
Mechanical Thermostats are designated as either Refrigerator (white housing), or Freezer (blue housing). When using a Bin (B) or Horizontal (H) evaporator, the Refrigerator Thermostat is used.

Ben,
If you decide you want to go for a digital thermostat in the future, possibly look at this Ink Bird ITC-1000. IMO as good as the Fridgoboat digital temp. controller, but much cheaper.
Since they are so inexpensive having this as a back up/spare isn't a bad idea and could save your bacon one day lol.
Here is a link where it was hooked up to a BD35 compressor (similar set up for other Danfoss compressors) as a temp controller.

New frigoboat thermostat
Thing is too that they are astonishingly accurate, allow you to set the set point and hysteresis etc to within 1 degree.
Mechanicals, not so much. You can play around and eventually determine that number 5 is a temp you want, but the hysteresis is non adjustable.

Re: New frigoboat thermostat
As always, you guys are awesome! I am installing the mechanical thermostat today. I have considered a digital thermostat but thought the installation was a little too complicated for me. I will order one, though, now that my fridge is working again. I agree with the comments regarding the hysteresis of the temperature curve. It is a bit of a pain. Thank you all so very much for your replies!

Didn't think $16 was too expensive. Can you get something similar, but less expensive than that??

Re: New frigoboat thermostat
Hi Bensolomon
What was the problem with your thermostat? My fridge is running (compressor) but not cooling the evaporator plate so I thought it was the thermostat....

Methinks it more likely that you have a gas problem if the plate's not getting cooler.

I had that problem, too. Turned out the quick disconnects or letting the refrigerant leak out. This occurred only after two seasons of installing the Capri 35. I tried to fix this with adding refrigerant, but it didn't work. Ultimately, I went to the Capri 50, and it has worked. I first discovered the thermostat problem when the unit wouldn't power on at all. Using a voltmeter I tracked it down to the thermostat. Once I bypassed the thermostat the fridge kicked on.
