I'd call it a cat ketch! I love the look of boats like that.

Still a very popular boat with a small but dedicated following. Google Commodore Ralph Monroe (sp) and Egret.

It is part of a photo exhibit in " The Atlantic". It, and the others, are all 150 years old!
If you open the page, it is picture #24 as you scroll down. The caption reads:
- "The "Nettie", an expedition boat on the Truckee River, western Nevada, in 1867. (Timothy O'Sullivan/National Archives and Records Administration) "

Wow... what a forum! One can ask the most obscure question, and someone has an answer in a very short period of time.
Very cool.

Graham at B&B boat works makes a current version of this boat http://www.bandbyachtdesigns.com/ec22.htm. The design is wickedly fast as a coastal cruiser

Re: Name this boat or designer?
yep , looks like a sharpie, cat ketch. Often built with the bottom planks short running atwhartships! Wouldnt that be fun in the Bahamas!
