Dear CF,
Today I looked at a Najad 330 and it fitted all my wishes… any experiences/ remarks good or bad in this group with the Najad 330?

I can't speak for the 330 in particular, but Najad is a premier boat builder on par with Hallberg Rassy. you can be confident that at least it was a very well built boat.

Najad as a builder has a really good reputation. The boats are sometimes regarded as a bit in the motorsailer field.

There are owner associations.

Sounds like you're thinking of Nauticat, not Najad.

I can’t speak about the N330 since I have a N373, a bit younger and built with specs from Judel/Vrolijk thus a bit more «*modern*»
What I can say is that construction is absolutely impeccable, the only issues I’ve been facing were linked to plumbing… Robustness and comfort/safety at sea are key aspects. Market value (un)fortunately reflects this.
The expert surveying the boat at purchase told me she will outlive me by many decades… Made me think to register to a fitness club [emoji1]

Possibly. They have two things in common - good reputation and a bit beyond my means.

Re: Najad 330, got my eye on one, any experiencez

Hello No42 -

I own a Najad and had the pleasure of visiting the yard, meeting the craftsmen & women, builders etc. in Henan when I purchased. Among many things what compels me to recommend a Najad is the professional commitment to quality of workmanship and details I saw first hand; not extravagant but no short cuts, a simple ethos of doing things the right way because for each of the people I met there, this was their profession -Not a job or a gig or labor, but they all lived on the quality of their work. In simple terms these Swedish boats are not unlike Volvos - perhaps not built for glamour or racing, but for use & safety. I can't provide any insight on the particular model though and as with all boat things, the devil is the details (consistent maintenance, upgrades, condition, etc.). If serious - have a thorough survey performed and do a sea trial w/ an objective 3rd party. Best of luck!

Thanks for the feedback! Sidestep: funny you mention Volvo…that car saved me and my wife live in a frontal accident (not our fault.. a ‘fast German car’…) Hence Volvo for life for me… in fact all Swedish products I know are state of art ( i am dutch) Will defintely do a trial, look for owners to get feedback.

That's a great endorsement, congrats on the good outcome- I share the same sentiment, had a number of Saabs in the 90s and early 2000s... the safety and style were great, but not nearly as reliable as the Volvos. Still both makes were very pragmatically designed, and this pragmatism is something you see in the Swedish boats too.

Look up Jeanne Socrates, oldest woman to circumnavigate, solo, non-stop, unassisted from British Columbia, Canada. Completed in 2019 or so....very current.....If memory serves me, she did it in a Najad, but believe a bit longer, maybe 38?....Cant get a more impressive endorsement of quality build....as I do not believe she did any major retro-fit prior to attempts...thnks
