Mystery Brackets ?

4 metal brackets locked on the overhead in the cabin on the starboard side, running fore and aft about 1 foot apart. I have no idea of what they are for. They look like some kind of hanging apparatus but for what I don't know. They are unsightly and if they serve no use I will remove them and seal up the 8 holes in the deck. If they do serve some purpose, we will see. Can anyone tell me what they are? thanks..

Those kinda look like slots for a swim ladder? I'd remove em if ya don't like em.

Re: Mystery Brackets ?

Radio mounts or some other type of equipment? I would remove them anyway as why would you want to risk the leaks into the cabin? Our radio was actually mounted through the deck but has since been taken out and remounted properly.

Re: Mystery Brackets ?

There are 4 brackets covering an area of about 4 feet. Maybe somekindof hanging locker?

Re: Mystery Brackets ?

Key hole Brackets are used for temporary fixing. However looking at the age of them and lack of recent wear n tear my guess is they havent been used for along time.

Re: Mystery Brackets ?

Looks like the headliner is gone. Were they used as intermediate supports for a headliner?

Re: Mystery Brackets ?

not for lee cloths, setting directly above ice box and starboard of galley sink and stove. Not headliner supports, boat never had a headliner.

Have you looked through your whole boat to see if you have anything that matches?

Re: Mystery Brackets ?

They look like brackets for some kind of removable shelf. Are there any electrical cables nearby ? This might be a good place to hang a radio or stereo.
