Moody Sailboats

What's the general opinion/rep of late 80s Moody's? Where in the quality scale would they be considered? From what I can see in various web postings they look good, but haven't seen one in person and it is a long trip to go look at the one that has gotten my attention.

PS - if anyone knows specific about the 422 that ould be plus.

Thanks!

Re: Moody Sailboats

I own a 1985 Moody 34 that I have sailed across the Atlantic and from the East Coast to the Virgin Islands, plus numerous trips to the Bahamas. I have found my boat to be very seaworthy , even in extreme weather.

Never owned one but have met and know a few owners who have nothing but praise for them... not fast boats.. but not exactly sluggardly either..
High build quality and finish... they were 'top end boats' in their day

Re: Moody Sailboats

My neighbours have a XXX (3 digit in the 35+ range, I believe she is a 37x).

Seen the boat inside and in the boatyard. Looks very well.

Dons post was from last August, his profile suggests he has a Hunter 41 now.

well then,,,, as an F.Y.I I have chartered a moody 43 for 3 weeks and it amazed me.tons of room ,everyting worked and it was fast...At one point in the sir Francis Drake channel we clocked 11.9 but I think the equipment needed to be recalibrated ...in either case , we were screaming along.look down below and with the portholes underwater we could feel the power and speed ...nice boat .,,,,very nice boat
