We left the boat in Puerto Calero in Lanzarote for 6 months and it was fine. Just remember you are competing with the ARC boats, and get your reservations really early.

Re: Marina for several weeks on the canary islands

My friend Matt has said that it is worth joining the ARC simply to get access to the marina on Gran Canaria.

I've delivered to the Puerto Calero marina and agree it is pleasant (but I don't remember great provisioning there).

San Sebastion was my favorite down there, on La Gomera. There was talk recently of a boat tax appearing, seems that it might just be on over 12m boats - Noonsite: Taxes Levied by Marinas in Tenerife and La Gomera - Update means a boat and a bus to the airport on Tenerife though.

The arc take over Las Palmas on Gran Canaria, you might just be able to squeeze into the anchorage but why bother IMHO. La Graciosa just north of Lanzaroti gets very good press if you like to get away from it all, I tried 2 times to get there but failed so don't know personally.

If you are staying on the boat then why not cruise around a bit? The islands are wonderful, inland Tenerife is increadable, walking everywhere is good, superb treks on Gomera and la palma.
If you are flying back then San Miguel on tenerife might do, 10 minutes from the airport. Or Las Galletas round the corner, nicer town.

Lots to choose from, noonsite has more info..

Not that great. Next time I'll check out Graciosa for sure. Couple of good options in Arricife , Lanzarote. Good fishermans chandlers there as well. Arguiniguin pretty good on south coast of Gran Canaria. A few options on s coast of Gomera, Valle Gran Ray is stunning , but wind can funnel down the mountains some nights. There are a few totally isolated beaches before VGR as well, and you get the watch the occasional naked german hippies living in caves
I spent a while down there, love it to bits.

Re: Marina for Several Weeks on the Canary Islands

Ancoring is quite impossible due to the volcanic nature of the islands.

There is a new Marina at La Palma in the historc center of the smal capital of the island.
You see only some tourists when there is a big cruise liner once a week.

See a video of Marina La Palma

Have a nice stay, Wilhelm
