Mariah 31 Opinions

Hey folks,

Lately I've been expanding my yachtworld searches, and I've come across a bit of an intellectual quandry.

I've read in many places to avoid double-enders for passagemaking/blue water cruising, yet also read that the Mariah 31 (a double ender) is an excellent choice for those types of voyages. Anyone care to elucidate on the issue? feel free to extol on both the specific models pros and cons AND the general issue of double ended boats as passagemakers.

I'm posting a link to the boat I saw on yachtworld as a reference. Thanks in advance folks.

Looks like a great boat. And the stuff about avoiding double enders is BS. Let's face it, passage making mostly depends on one thing: seamanship.

the mariah is a 31 foot boat that weighs 16000 lbs. something like this would provide a strong and steady platform .. a boat that would probably hold her course well once she got moving. also she would be a bit quicker than her heavier cousin the westsail 32. they just don't build boats like this anymore.
