Lucky on this Forum

If you go on the Practical Boat Owner forum UK and say one minor trivial thing out of line you get banned by the moderator for two to four weeks. Good old UK free speech is a thing of the past. Good old USA free speech is worth its weight in gold. The UK is now sending people to prison for hurty words and opinions. How can you have a lively discussion if all the time you are thinking
"will this offend some over sensitive person " and I will be banned ? SAD UK

Q: If Colgate toothpaste kills 99.9% of germs; what is Colgate Sensitive supposed to do?
A: It kills 99.9% of them, without hurting their feelings.

I agree.. but let's face it, Starmar is following Biden and Trumps policy of shutting down pro Palistinians opposition.
No surprise really, British politicians since Blair have been kissing Americas butt for a chance of the golden handshakes that come with it.
Will it succeed is another matter, when you see Palistine Action supporters queuing up to be arrested for just holding a piece of cardboard in silence.. how long will the people stand for it.. Labour will not see out this Parliament.

Not sure some Uni's, staff and students with your analysis of American Free Speech standards since their arrests, punitive fines and threatened closure for supporting free speech.

If you behave like an arse, expect to get banned.
There is free speech and there are forum rules. They both exist

Re: Lucky on this Forum

I say this as an American living under an increasingly brutal and unlawful regime:

Starmar is the worst politician and leader I have ever seen for any western "democracy" in modern history. At least with Trump the voters had some idea that they'd get right wing violence and mayhem. Starmar's background is civil rights attorney. I don't think when the British voters voted out decades of Tory rule the incoming Labour government would strip the welfare state, crack heads of retired vicars and nans at Palestine marches while yes-anding right wing flag protesters.

Re: Lucky on this Forum

But this is not a democracy forum. This is a cruising forum. And so non-cruising rants should be cut short by the admins.

I, for one, believe that free speech should be curbed. Also democracy should be either vastly modernized (including adequate curbs on free speech) or else substituted by a newer and better system, one more in line with the way we are living today (overpopulation, return to religions, falling standards of education, etc.)

PS The text above - only as an example of what should NOT be allowed to be posted at CF. Not to be used for navigation.

Re: Lucky on this Forum

My first foray on this cruising forum had me taking several trips to the sin bin, so don't be so quick to think this forum is without it's rules and regulations.

The moderators here, do have a sense of humor though, and will tolerate, to a point, wanderings or deviations, from a topic, but are otherwise quite eagle eyed and are not to be bribed or otherwise swayed from their moderating duties.

To be fair, moderating a chat forum is probably akin to trying to herd cats, a difficult if not impossible task.

Lastly, many posters on here have been here for some time, and pretty much know the drill, so for the most part, peace and happiness reigns here with only the odd discord happening from time to time, and if things get too out of hand, the mods will simply close the thread down and the problem is thus solved with a click of a button.

Re: Lucky on this Forum

I'm starting to wonder if universal suffrage isn't a failure and a basic IQ of 50 or above should be required to vote in a democracy.

If you do practice free speech be prepared for attacks both online or via e-mail..
IQ 50+ should also be a requirement for politicians in a democracy...
Though to be honest I'm not sure IQ is necessarily a reliable marker..
