I think I've figured out the three words:

Fast ... Cheap ... Quality

As I recall, tho, one can only have two.

This thread keeps getting better: Stefano is buying a boat with a credit card which gives me three other words: Now I understand!

Well, Mates, the holiday is over, thank goodness, move along, nothing to see here.

Nooo, that can't be right - must be a misunderstanding?
I'd read back but Ima go stand in line for a shower

(We also celebrate '2nd Christmas day' here so lots of people about and only 3 showers / 250 berths ...)

Yeah, man, I'm the dumb one.

Lizzy, that was every morning for me for lotsa years. My life (such as it is) changed with a shower on board. It's worth the hassle. For me.

Yeah, I'm thinking I wouldn't mind a shower either ...
Or running warm water, even, hahaha!
Usually I try to get to the showers before 7am or after midnight - no line.

If and when I do treat myself to a few extra feet, there will be a shower and a real cabin with a comfy berth

Edit: where does it say he'll be buying a boat with his credit card? Can't find it.
Can you even do that? Probably can, but have to admit: thought never even crossed my mind.

It's posted right above your last.

My boat came w/shower, pressure water, and water heater. What most boaters take for granted, no doubt, but a real luxury for me. You can make a shower if need be. Easy peasy with a pump up garden sprayer.

About to go out, but will re-read when back.

Having a little problem with the syntax translation .... not sure he's saying he'd buy a boat with a credit card.

Re: Looking For Liveaboard's Couple New Boat

My boat has just enough creature comforts to not miss much from a land based existence... a separate comfy sleeping area (cabin)... a large galley, hot water and shower... Of course everything is smaller and compact compared to land stuff, but more than adequate. I do not feel I have compromised on these comforts to live on the boat.

I was coming from his use of plastic and the emoticon. Even if I'm correct, he won't admit it now, not that anyone cares or would be surprised.

CRAB. If only you could hear yourself....pitiful.
I understand that english is not your first language but nowhere did Steph suggest buying a boat with a c/card.
That suggestion came from within the darker corners of your demeanour.
I suspect you were never taught 'kindness' but never to late to learn.

I'm looking for the most robust, heavy duty, reliable boat maker over there for full time liveaboard, ocean crossing (and would like also polar region...but let's limit it to high latitute cruising)

No problem if it's slow, or not a reaching performance sailboat...
No ex charter, no mass production last generation disposable leasing chartering boat

Dimension about 50-55 ft, max 60ft.

It mast have at least 4-5 berths (better if 5-6) above the owner cabin (for occasional chartering, the only way to earn some money)

Material, not steel for sure, maybe alluminium, and what you think about the 30 and more old sailboat with polyurethane resins? The old one replaced by epoxy resing, the one that get the hull delaminated after 20 years...

Price max 80.000 including final refit and customization, so max 60- max max 65.000.

I have to admit that i really like the pilothouse (like the SP cruiser), the trawler style, with an enclosed space with a table at least for eating looking at the sea while ouside is cold would be great.

Sloop and easy rigging are better, but also ketch no problem, i like free standing mast (freedom yacht ) but quite expensive and max is 44 ft..Some bruce roberts design maybe?

What about as soon as i get to boat, get it on the hard, make it get dry for 2 weeks or more, sand anti fouling, and cover ALL the hull with a good layer of epoxy resins?
Then add coppercoat on it, just to be sure it's like a new watertight and stiffened hull (more or less), no osmosis, no problem,ecc...

These 2 are the only affordable in alluminium

The fastest, but not many other info.

1978 Canning Sloop Vela Barca in vendita - www.yachtworld.it

The best, the almost perfect but 2 x engine!

1982 Hydra 46 Vela Barca in vendita - www.yachtworld.it

One like this but with 2 x sail area (original only 57 square meter, while a same size sailboat about 100 square meters) and a keel (found used but only 150k to 450k usd...and it's a motorsailer, not a true sailboat)

SP Cruiser - Yacht Island Packet
I even found some old icebreaking steel tug, very fascinating, quite good fitted for 50.000 euro...20.000 of sails, keel, and refit and it's done but too beamy to be decently fast (meaning 3-4 kts) only with wind

Thanks all for the help and the idea
Stefano

Re: Looking For Liveaboard's Couple New Boat

Leftbrain. You are right, Stephs figure were probably missing a zero but with the help of CF he WILL get there...unlikelt 50 foot but he will get there.
A bit of encouragement is a great panacea in the absence of wealth and/or previous experience.
Stephano....never give up the dream, providing of course you have skills and inclme.

Post 50.

I won't mind being mistaken. How do you read the plastic remark? Followed by 'the grin?" ........ We all know that ****-eating grin.
