Looking for guidance regarding Cal 39 MK II

Hello All

Having lived aboard both a Pearson 365 and a Whitby 42 with a family of 5 we are now downsizing and looking for a boat for just my wife and I. I am considering a 1981 Cal 39 MKII but know next to nothing about its pedigree or common weaknesses of this boat. I read in another forum about early standing rigging placement issues - not sure how this could be verified- but would love any information, owners manuals, owners chat groups, issues to look for as we survey this boat. I am also considering a Pearson 39-2 (seems to be a similar design) and noted its design flaw related to the deck joint and side deck delamination. Would love to know what to look for on the Cal 39.
Can anyone verify the construction - I believe it is solid FRP on the hull and balsa core on deck?

My main interests are with understanding the construction, weaknesses (from owners perspective) and what are the areas/issues I should be looking for as I go to survey this boat.
