Hello all, I've got a '91
Catalina 28 that apparently had some
work done to its
keel sump sometime in the past and I'm trying to figure out how it was supposed to have been built in the first place.
Catalina support was helpful, but weren't able to give me any drawings/pictures unfortunately.
Would anyone out there be able to provide a picture of the sump in a 28 mark 1 (the closer to
hull number 171 the better)?
Attached is a
photo of mine and I'm looking for a similar angle if possible. My main interest is seeing how the thwarts (red arrows) should be. Our
boat has a slight
keel wobble and, since the laminates don't appear to be compromised (had it double checked professionally) the suspicion is that the
repair didn't quite get the supports right somehow. One thing that stuck out to me is that the thwarts in our
boat stop right at the top of the keel sump and don't extend across the gar boards to the rest of the structure (the areas circled in blue) like on other Catalina's that I've seen.
These
boats are a bit rare in our area, so I appreciate any help/insight you all can provide! Thank you!
