looking 1989 morgan 44

Looking at buying a 44 morgan sloop 1989. What can be said of this boat?
offshore?
they our asking $119,000 is that a good buy.
Boat has been modified with in-mast main sail and 3 year old generator has orginal 44 hp engine.
How does she sail in ligt winds? to see boat search texas 44 morgan 1990 located in kemah, texas.

This particular Morgan model is a decent sailing boat but not what you would call a "light wind" performer given her weight and shoal draft keel. We inspected 3 of these during a boat search of our own and all had significant leak/water issues with deck joint and 2 of the 3 had heavy engine hours. They are spacious, and great live aboard boats and suitable for coastal and island work...but are not blue water cruisers. The price or $119 asking is suspiciously low...get a good surveyor!

I found a copy of one year old survey on 44 morgan. This boat was a trade in for a new catalina. The dealership repaired the deck at a cost 17,000. The boat has a in-mast.

Hi, newbie here. I have a 1985 M43 which is much the same boat and it is a great sailer. Lots of room and good speed. There is a 1988 44 for sale here in the Bay area at 119000.00 that looks off the charts wonderful. This is bad news for me cause I have mine for sale at 120000 after 3yrs of restoration.

He seems real anxious to sell as he just lowered the price from 129000. might be worth a look. look on bayarea craigslist. mine is a capitolareef.com

hi, this will sound suspicious, but I just checked and it seems that ad has expired. He could have sold it or just not relisted yet. no way to back check for it. here is the link to Craigs list, give it a couple days, look in boats and search on Morgan
