Re: Like sleeping inside a congo drum

The product to stop this is called slap silencer
SlapSilencer eliminates excessive wave slapping noise in aft cabin sailboats | From Anson Sailmakers NH

Re: Like sleeping inside a congo drum

Are Bennies cored hulls?
Might have something to do with the layup of the glass hull.
I have a B 373 parked next to me in my marina right now and when I step outside of my Tayana 37 all I hear is glug glug glug as the wind swell passes under the sugar scoop stern.
Must have something to do with the amount of wetted surface. This Bennie has a shorter mast, sits more than a foot higher in the water to the rail, and has a coach house that sits at least 2 feet higher than mine.
When the wind blows heavy through the marina (she’s just down wind of me), our mast hardly moves and she’s heeling back and forth like a rocking horse.

It's due to the scoop stern- nothing to do with hull thickness

Is this common and/or avoidable?

Yes it is aviodable. Yet another reason to buy a catamaran.

Yep, on the cat you can listen to the bridge slap. [emoji16]
