Klegecell coring

I just read a positive artical in January 06 issue of Sailing magazine about the Irwin 52 being a good value in a larger boat. But I got confused about the two different hull types. The hulls that were made from 1976-1981 were solid glass. Then from 1982 they used "klegecell coring from the water line up. Which is better? What is klegecell coring?

Klegecell is a high quality closed cell foam coring. If properly installed it would produce a far superior boat in all respects; strength, durability, ease of repair, comfort in a variety of seasons, stability and sailing ability. If improperly built then the Klegecell would be inferior. Given the quality control issues at Irwin, I personally would be concerned about the Klegecell boats.

Respectfully,
Jeff

Thanks Jeff. My boat is solid glass so it makes no difference. If is good to know that is a quality way to build.
